What stays in your MIDI
Events outside the selected operation remain in the low-level timeline. Downloading before any edit returns the exact source bytes.
Drop the export into a DAW
- Download the edited file. The name starts with editmidi- so it is easy to spot in a DAW project.
- In FL Studio, Ableton, or Logic, create or open a MIDI track and import that .mid onto the clip or arrangement.
- Audition the destination instrument. MIDI is instructions, so the sound comes from the synth you attach in the DAW.
Replace the MIDI tempo map with one BPM
Enter a tempo from 20 to 300 BPM. Applying the change removes the existing tempo events and writes one tempo event at tick zero, creating a single steady tempo for the whole file.
This is an intentional rewrite, not a temporary player setting. Files with accelerando, ritardando, or several tempo sections will lose that variation after you apply and export the change. Undo restores the complete previous tempo map while the document remains open.
Understand what changes when BPM changes
Note tick positions and lengths do not move. Because the same ticks play faster or slower under the new tempo, the real-time duration changes while the musical grid stays aligned. Time signatures, programs, controllers, pitch bend, and note velocities remain in the event timeline.
A MIDI tempo tool, not audio time-stretching
A MIDI file contains performance instructions rather than a recorded waveform. This page does not stretch source audio or preserve vocals while changing song speed. After rewriting the tempo map, you can preview it quickly or create a full-duration note render as a local WAV or MP3 with EditMIDI’s limited bundled SoundFont. Program changes, controllers, sustain, pitch bend, external instruments, and effects are not rendered.
